Roof Stains, Roof Mold, Roof Algae Stains, and black streaks are normally caused by humid, dark or sheltered environments which occur on the north and northeast sides of roofs. Algae is a very hardy roof stain called Gloeocapsa Magna.

Certain algae spores are carried by wind, birds, squirrels etc. from roof to roof. Asphalt shingles recently manufactured use limestone which is like fertilizer to the algae spurring its growth and making it thrive.

The streaks and discoloration are an accumulation of algae’s dead, dark cells. These stains will continue to grow and become more unsightly and could cause considerable damage to your roof if left unchecked.

Mold is a common problem in invading roofs. Mold is a member of the fungi family. Spores can breed on water or damp surfaces and when identified deal with it on a timely basis to avoid health issues as well as a rapid spread of the spores which also cause an unsightly roof.

Today, removal products professionally applied can safely and quickly eliminate these problems.
